About Us

Falmouth Orthopaedic Center has been providing patient-centered orthopaedic care since 1998. Our medical team consists of four board certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons and four highly skilled, board certified physician assistants.

Collectively our doctors have nearly five decades of experience and sub-specialty training in sports medicine, shoulder surgery, total joint replacement, scoliosis and adult spine disorders. Each of our physician assistants works closely with one physician to evaluate and treat orthopedic problems, provide patient education and assist with surgery.

Falmouth Orthopaedic Center has an onsite x-ray facility for rapid radiologic evaluation. We offer urgent consultation appointments within 24 to 48 hours. Our doctors are on staff at both Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine.

Community Involvement

The team at Falmouth Orthopaedic Center take pride in being involved in various groups and assocations within our community.

• Dr. Sarah Shubert is a team physician for the Portland Red Claws.


• Dr. Philip Anson is the recipient of the 2009 Physician of the Year award from the Downeast Association of Physician Assistants.

• We are members of the MMC Physician Hospital Organization and have participated in numerous specialty care initiatives.

• All of our physicians have received the Aetna Aexcel specialist designation in Aetna’s performance network.

• We have participated in PQRI (Physician Quality Reporting Initiative) since 2007 focusing on peri-operative quality measures.
